East Takes Midget Portion of Kokomo Klash
Brownsburg, Ind. (October 19, 2009) – In a thrilling battle that had the fans in the stands on their feet, Bobby East scored one of the biggest wins of the season on Sunday by out-dueling Bryan Clauson to take the non-sanctioned Midget feature during the annual Kokomo Klash at the quarter-mile Kokomo Speedway.
East started on the front row and spent the entire 25-lap feature battling for the lead with Clauson. East led the first seven laps then swapped the lead with Clauson through lap ten before settling into second. With the finish in sight, East turned up the pressure and raced the Klatt Enterprises No. 4 Ford Racing Technology/Beast Chassis Beast back into the lead. He withstood one more challenge from Clauson before sweeping under the checkered flag to take the victory.
“That was a lot of fun,” East said as the cheers rained down from the grandstands. “It’s great to get to race with guys like Bryan, Brad Kuhn and Dave Darland like that. That was a great race. We’ve put a lot of effort into the dirt program this year and we’ve had some bad luck that hasn’t let everyone see how good we are. I’ve even built my own dirt sprint car so I can get more laps and try to improve on my end, and tonight just proves what we’ve been saying all season. We have a couple of big USAC shows to close out the year and I hope this momentum carries over and we can get another couple of wins.”
Bobby East will close out the 2009 USAC Silver Crown and Midget season with a doubleheader at Phoenix International Raceway on November 12, and then end the year with the traditional Turkey Night Grand Prix at Irwindale Speedway on November 26.
